About the Capital Pride Band of Columbus

The Capital Pride Band of Columbus is an Ohio-based GLBT organization that formed in 2003, and currently has a membership of over 70 instrumentalists. The musical backgrounds of members range from band directors and those with degrees in music, to others who have not touched their instrument since high school. Our "all are welcome" policy applies to anyone interested in membership, regardless of race, color, creed, religion, national origin, sex, disability, age and sexual orientation.

The Capital Pride Band holds different types of performances throughout the year:

• The Capital Pride Concert Band holds concerts in the fall and in the spring each year. The programs tend to feature a mix of classical, big band and contemporary concert band pieces.
• The Capital Pride Marching Band marches every year in the Columbus Pride Parade and performs a set in the festival.
• The Capital Pride Pep Band, a smaller ensemble, generally performs at several events during fall football season.

The band also features smaller ensembles such as the Holiday Brass Band which generally performs each year as part of Village Lights in German Village.

Our Mission

Our mission is to create quality musical and social experiences for our members and community through a variety of performances. We provide an open, inclusive, and fun atmosphere while promoting the joy of music, friendship, and personal growth.
