The Capital Pride Band

of Columbus, OH

small logo

Play along!

Also known as CapPride, the band's focal performance has been the Columbus Pride Parade & Festival during its initial two years. In addition, we perform at various events throughout the year including the OUTie Awards, Gallery Hops, The Ohio State University GLBT Alumni Society activities, and more. A monumental milestone was achieved on March 13, 2005 when we presented our first public concert at the King Avenue United Methodist Church. Now, the band has two concert seasons (spring and fall) and holds a concert at the church at the end of each season. Check out our calendar for events and practice dates!

Instrumentation

Brass - euphoniums/baritones, french horns/mellophones, trumpets, trombones, tubas/sousaphones
Percussion - bass drums, cymbals, keyboards (bells, chimes, marimba, xylophones, etc.), snares, quads, timpani, tri-toms
Woodwinds - alto clarinets, bass clarinets, bassoons, clarinets, flutes, oboes, piccolos, saxophones

Requirements

  • There are no auditions, but please contact us ahead of time (by emailing info@cappride.org) to make sure we have music prepared for you.
  • You must be able to read music.
  • Attendance at rehearsals is very important. If an excessive amount of rehearsals are missed (without prior consent from the directors), you will not be allowed to perform.
  • Annual membership dues are $30/year with a $45 Pride uniform fee.
  • You should have your own instrument. If you don't have immediate access to an instrument we may be able to help find you a loaner that you may use in the short term.

Again, don't worry if you have not played in years. We want to make membership in our group a fun musical experience for all levels of playing ability.
